Guest Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 (edited) Hi all, basically ive searched this forum for podcast and all the software that comes up linked costs. are there any FREE podcast software apps that would enable me to download a weekly podcast from the bbc http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/5204778.stm this is the link i think there is a link on the right side where you can do save as etc etc. ideally id be interested in the mp4 or video version at 63 odd mb but the audio one is okay too. i want to be able to just set it to download the podcast once a week automatically to my ppc so its there when i watch it on the train. on another note if i do this by T-mobiles web and walk thing (while in no way every getting near my 2gb limit a month) will they penalise me for "streaming" if so then i could just download it on the pc and then transfer it across i suppose but that would mean id have to remember every week rather than it being automatic advice appreciated help! JEREMY Hi Jeremy, I do not know about free alternatives, but I have been using Egress for automatic download for weekly podcasts from a variety of sources. it works great. Newsbreak (not free either) does not offer support for podcasts, so i would recommend Egress. Do a search on egress pocketpc, and it will come up. As for the TMobile thing, no worries - you do not stream content, just download it automatically on your phone as you would download a file, so TMobile would have no reason to worry. I've been doing this since going for a Vario 1 year ago (I've now gone for the Vario II) and I've never had any problem, both with the software and with TMobile. hope this helps.
Guest Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 thanks for the reply but its been solved Im using hubdog its free and quite good loads of channels and if it does not have one just paster the rss link (like i did with newsnight and it does it for you) brilliant would reccomend it to anyone. problem is there is so much stuff im wanting to get ie trailers and other stuff i would actually have to worry about going over my 2gb limit now. might have to limit it to news and sport stuff JEREMY
