Guest zoidster Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Firstly please don't think I am trying to tell anyone how to suck eggs - my knowledge of this stuff isn't great , so the last thing I want to be doing is telling anyone they are wrong But I have seen this site mentioned frequently regarding HSDPA speed testing since I joined here I personally tried it out on the M3100 when I first got HSDPA enabled - and it returned around 800kbps( :D ) but since cracking my M3100's screen ( :D ) I have gone back to using the trusty universal (which isn't HSDPA capable ... is it ? ) I did a speed test out of curioustiy and got a reported speed of 862kbps :D I then switched to GSM and got a report of 182kpbs !! (I cleared cache & cookies between all tests BTW ) Not trying to be a smart arse - but this test appears to be the guage that the majority are using to test there Hermes HSDPA connections - So I thought I should report my findings

I got 720ish kbps! so is this achieveable through just 3G or is HDSPA enabled? and how do I tell? cheers mike
Guest Dr Who Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 I don't even remotely trust bandwidthplace TBH. The other suggested site 'feels' more realistic.
Guest billybear Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 I don't even remotely trust bandwidthplace TBH. The other suggested site 'feels' more realistic. I agree :D With bandwidthplace I was getting speeds of 1.2Mbps without HSDPA enabled :D :D But with http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed got a more realistic <400kbps. With HSDPA enabled now get >800kbps+ :D Also see thread I-got-HSDPA-added-to-my-account
Guest spacemonkey Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 OK, dslreports 1Mb test on my HSDPA enabled gave about 780 kbit/sec, 0.450s latency and 11s d/l time That's running through pauls proxy with good DNS servers \o/ I agree :D With bandwidthplace I was getting speeds of 1.2Mbps without HSDPA enabled :D :D But with http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed got a more realistic 800kbps+ :D Also see thread I-got-HSDPA-added-to-my-account
