Guest Savage_Gizmo Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 this is probably a pointless post but i thought i may as well ask for a bit of advice before i completely give up on my phone. i have a vodafone v1240 and unfortunately for me it went through the wash, oh and it was on (was off when came out of the washer, which wasn't too suprising) basically this is what i've done so far, i've taken the battery out, sim card, memory card etc (not tried to turn it on yet) and stuck it in the airing cupboard. it's been there for two days now and was wondering how long i should give it until i try to turn it on again. also would i be better off getting a screwdriver and opening it up so it can dry off better??? lol, i'm guessing this is a complete long shot, but i've got to hold onto some kind of hope before i weep uncontrolably, i'm such an idiot. please somone post saying they've got their phone to work after something like this has happened, so then i can hope and pray that mine will too.
Guest fluffcat1 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Do a search for the thread 'sp5 in tea' or similar and you might feel better. There is hope... Richard

Guest Laser_iCE Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 You can get the screwdriver from your local hardware store, and the alcohol too, or normally from your corner store :D
Guest Savage_Gizmo Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 hi, this is a bit of a long shot, but just wondered if any of you could answer it. would this phone be covered by warrenty or something by vodafone by any chance, because i was looking through the forum earlier and someone else had a mishap with their v1240 and i think they said they got it fixed as it was covered by vodafone or something. i think he also said that he bought it off ebay as i did mine. any clues anyone?
Guest solarflare Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I've done the exact same thing... had the phone in my pocket and washed the trousers. It was a samsung p400. So I took the battery and sim card out and left it to dry for a few days inside my computer case (don't have an airing cupboard so that's the best alternative). After that I tried to turn it on, no luck. But I had a spare battery for it so i though i'd try that.. and it worked! Also i dropped another phone into a pint of water, it was only in there for a few seconds. Left that to dry for a while and it was good as new (so far as i could tell).
Guest Savage_Gizmo Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 wow, i just couldn't wait coz i'm just really impatient. i took the phone out of the airing cupboard and turned it on, and to my suprise it worked. i am damn impressed, but from what i can tell the keypad isn't the most responsive anymore so i'm still going to take the phone apart and give it a clean with that alcohol stuff to see if that cures it, fingers crossed. thanks for all of your help!
