Guest supermoocow Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Well finally decided to go for a vario II on tmobile with web n walk :D Decided I wanted a nippier more transportable phone than my XDA Exec :D Well phoned to cancel tonight... Boy talk about hard sell... They wanted to know why.. I said about TMobile web n walk and flex package etc... Got told you know thats an 18 month contract. Web n walk is txt only and slow with no pictures (told this multiple times). They didn't listen to me when I tried to correct them about this... After being offered several nice deals on O2 I said I still wanted to cancel. I was told well you will have to write in. Once we get the letter assuming it doesn't get lost the 30 days notice is from that point... Eventually I was given the option of being sent an o2 payg sim free in which I can switch within 14 days and can cancel and get another pack within 14 days... Is the PAYG sim the best way to go as I want to start my TMobile contract at the start of next month and don't want to get caught up with paying several contracts for several months. I also want to port my number to TMobile. Any ideas guys n girls??????
Guest undergrid Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 (edited) I've recently also canceled a O2 contract to go to t-mobile, in the process getting a PAC code to transfer my telephone number. I was put through to retentions and did get asked why I was switching, but once I had pointed out there was no suitable O2 version of web'n'walk they gave me my PAC pretty quickly and the O2 contract should be canceled as soon as the transfer goes through, no snail-mail or notice required (you may need to give notice if your still within the minimum term of your O2 contract though, I wasn't) I think the thing here is that because the number transfer system is a standard, they have to follow the guidelines, which includes terminating the account after the transfer. You might want to try a number transfer if you don't mind keeping your current number, apart from that, theres nothing AFAIK in the O2 t's & c's that require a letter, stick to your guns and make sure they know your not asking, your telling. Guest MPXtricky Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I just swapped from O2 to Orange so I could have an M3100. I got put through to retentions and asked why I wanted to leave. Told them "can you supply me NOW with an equivalent phone and tariff?" and when they said "no" I told them, "OK then I want my PAC". Then I got offered a 25 minutes/25 txts, a free upgrade and cashback after 12 months for
Guest Dooks Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 How far into your O2 contracts were you? How much did you have to pay to cancel? I am in month 10 of 18.
Guest MPXtricky Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Now there is your problem..... I was just coming up to the end of my 12 month contract. After what you just said, I'm surprised you were even offered the chance to write in! What you could do, as you have been with them more than six months, is to downgrade. Tell them you want the same
Guest supermoocow Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 hi guys, Still haven't sorted o2 out yet but couldn't wait so picked up hermes 2 instore today :D wow its a lot lighter and smaller than the exec! Tmobile told me that I can apply my puk code anytime so thought heck i'll take a hit for a month with o2 and hope I can get my puk code within the next couple of weeks. Is the puk code supplied immediately or do u have to wait a while for it to turn up by post?
Guest FragMeister Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 if it is the same as when i called them for my o2 payg number, they give it to you over the phone, and follow it up with a letter in the post. You don't have to wait for the letter- so long as you write down the PAC code when you speak to them. You can then call T-Mobile and furnish them with the code and they will set the wheels in motion.
Guest noodles-21 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I also did the same thing, asked for pac from o2 through carphone warehouse, they said i had to write in! so i did, but sent it 1st class recorded! as i've heard stories of requests by post mysteriously vanishing. They have to supply the pac code withing 48 hours of them getting the request, i got mine soon after by txt, it took 7 days to transfer my old number over to t-mobile. I must say, that since i've been with t-mobile (1 month now) i've noticed a massive difference in customer service compared to O2/CPW. CPW offered me all kinds of deals to keep hold of my custom, but they couldn't beat the flext terrif, so said goodbye to them. my contract with o2 came to an end as soon as the pac code was transfered (7 days after getting it by txt) if you dont use the pac within 28 days, then your contract carries on and you will be billed as normal.
Guest undergrid Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Well, my earlier post was a bit optimistic. The date of the PAC transfer came and went with no transfer (just after midnight I called my number and it still rang on the O2 phone). The next day the number still hasn't arrived on the t-mobile device and o2 have apparently closed my account. If you ring the number you get a message saying its not recognised and of course the appropriate department in t-mobile isn't open over the weekend (Who's idea was it to do PAC transfers on a friday when no ones there the next day to sort it out if theres a screw up?). If I loose my number over this, I'm gonna get really annoyed.
Guest 888 Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 I will never join O2 at CPW again. Emailed them to cancel my contract a week ago only to recieve a reply that I had to first call O2 CS, obtain a reference number and then write in again via snail mail! Why couldn't he have supplied the ref number there and then? Called them today, and it got even better, the letter has to be in the right format and sent to a specific address, anything esle and it wouldn;t count. Seems they are making the termination process difficult and are using the Data Protection Act as an excuse for this. NEVER AGAIN. Poor poor poor customer service.
Guest Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 I switched from O2 CPW to t mobile direct. yes i was annoyed at the snail mail letter thing but there was no particular format that they asked for. i also got my pac code by text within 4 days. and it transferred ok (although neither phone worked for about 3 hours while doing the transfer) o2 CPW were crap and i definately would not reccomend going through CPW for anything if it can be avoided. The less said about talk talk as well the better JEREMY
Guest patp Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Is this problem for all O2 or just contracts arranged at CPW? I need to cancel them at 12 months next week, but it wasn't through CPW.
Guest The Doctor Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Is this problem for all O2 or just contracts arranged at CPW? I need to cancel them at 12 months next week, but it wasn't through CPW. CPW are absolutely clueless. Walked in, asked if they had any M3100's, guy stared at me blankly and said 'ya what?', walked out the shop NEVER going there again.... Got a similar reaction from The Link Best going direct to the networks themselves if you ask me Phil
Guest feeta Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 I received an email from o2 yesterday stating: Dear O2 Online Customer, We've made some changes to O2 Pay Monthly and Business Airtime contracts. The fully updated terms and conditions can be viewed at http://www.O2.co.uk/termsconditions/yourairtimecontract. If you're a bit hard pressed for time, don't worry, we've also given you a brief summary of the changes below (but we do recommend finding a moment to familiarize yourself with the fully updated terms). Regards The O2 Online Team Here is a summary of the key changes from October 2006 (However please read the new terms for full changes) 1. If you connect to an online tariff your airtime agreement commences on the day your mobile phone is dispatched (clause 3.1). 2. If you upgrade your mobile phone a new minimum period will apply

Guest Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Yeah ok o2 online are probably crap as well Here here for T-mobile cs though damn good on the few calls ive had to make (even gave me a discount which i did not ask for on my next bill as they supposedly overbilled me by
Guest jonhitch Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I've just left O2 for Orange and recently bought the SPV3100. I have to admit I was really impressed with O2. I sent a letter asking for my PAC code and explaining why I was moving. I received a text message a couple of days later from them saying 'we have received your letter and are sorry to hear you are leaving. Your PAC will be sent shortly'. Then a couple of days after that my PAC arrived with a 'we hope you'll come back to us letter. I'm happy to have moved to Orange however I felt that O2 handled my leaving very professionally. Sorry to hear you've had quite the opposite experience! Yeah ok o2 online are probably crap as well Here here for T-mobile cs though damn good on the few calls ive had to make (even gave me a discount which i did not ask for on my next bill as they supposedly overbilled me by
