Orange Sidebar on M3100

I'm thinking of getting this phone, but I have one question before i do.

On all of the photos i've seen on the net, there is an orange shortcut bar on the left of the screen. My question simply is, can this be removed???

Click Start, Settings, Today, and then choose a different Today theme. On the 'Items' tab (same screen), check the tick box for everything you see and and untick the 'Orange' one. I chose the Windows Default Theme, along with the Blue Dialler skin from the XDA Developers website. This will do me until I can find/make a better one. It looks much nicer than the grey/orange washed out yukky crap one that comes as standard. I dunno what it is with Orange - their themes on the MPX200 were the pits and they haven't improved for the M3100 either (imo)
