Could anyone who has got a free SPV from the link say which one they got it from so that those who's local ones are not can ask them to contact other branches.

Cheers

Rob

Well I have just rung around 10 of the Link branches around the country and non of them know of any offer where they are selling them for free on talk 200 so looks like some of you got very lucky.

Just spoke to Sue in The Scunthorpe store.

None in stock at the moment :D

Price she was quoting me was £79.99 on all tariffs - (certainly different from the £99 I've been quoted by my local store) - but it still ain't free !

Anybody else tried yet ?

Hi there...

I called someone at the Scunthorpe shop at about 4pm this afternoon... and I asked him the CHEAPEST price they do the SPV for.. and he had to confirm it with someone, and he came back and said £99.00.

He also said they had none till next Wednesday, as the 2 that they had they sold - (I wonder if they actually sold them, or gave them away for free)...

I was going to be cheeky and ask now much he sold it to them for... but I didn't.

Hi there...

Sooooo... Does anyone know of any highstreet shop, that will do the phone for less than £99? The Link and Carphone Warehouse will only do pricematching if it is a highstreet shop, and the phone is in stock.

With all these problems, I'm not likely to spend anything like £99 on the phone, when I can get it on the net, on the same tariff, plus get free stuff (I don't care about free stuff really, but its neat) - for free!?

You should ask how much they sold it to me for.

I wonder if thet dare admit they goofed and let me have it for free.

Anyway im taking it back so I wonder if they could let you have it for free or if they have to return it to orange.

Hi there...

Well I was going to mention it to them... but I didn't know your name at the time...

I think I'm possibly going to wait on buying this now... I have a 2.5 year old 7110, and it has battery issues... i.e. after a full charge (thats a charge in which I have to press the cable really hard into the phone, then pull the cable taught round the phone, then wrap it round the arial 3 times to make it stay there... thats the same with the English and extra french charger I bought (well.. at the other end of the english charger, I have to wrap the wire around and around the body of the charger to get it to work)).........it lasts about a day, and after you have made one call with it, it goes down to 2 bars.....

I don't like any other phone on the market, and I really want a smart phone. I actually saw this phone on Friday 15th November, when I went into an Orange shop in Guildford. I knew more about the phone already than the sales person, and managed to get it to crash.

The biggest ass of the camera I found, was the stupid keypad and stupid joystick... also it was very sluggish in doing anything.... and how the hell was anyone meant to work out how to activate the camera!!

On the other hand, it does do all the things I want out of a phone at the moment, and I'm still in mourning at the passing of the Z100 (which I found out about and have been dreaming of since August 2001!!) ((p.s. if anyone knows how I can get hold of a developers one, PLEASE let me know as I so want to see it in real life) ((2 SODDING weeks before it was meant to be released!! GRRR!!)))

Unless I just buy this phone in the mean time, and buy the new Series 60 Z100 this time next year......

What do you think people...

p.s. I know that Semiens is bringing out a smartphone too, but thats a clamshell design... and I hate clamshell...

p.p.s.s. oh yer, on the 15th I went into the MPC shop, and ALMOST got a GX-10 to crash after taking some photos and wanting to go back to the home screen.... although after 4 minutes it recovered.....

p.p.p.s.s.s. playing with the new GD phone, and the GX-10, then going back and seeing the SPV made me feel that the other phones are so much more stable..... my feeling I get with the SPV, is one of nervousness... it just doesn't inspire confidence...

I just don't think Microsoft have their proiorities straight when designing phones. A call comes in, what does the phone do...... right I think I should check to see if there is any email.... check to see if the other person has a microsoft product...have I been synchronised...............

Ok that is a silly example....

A better example..... Ok, I want to go down on the keypad to another application..... check for new messages... any memory problems.... ok I will now GRUDGINGLY let the user go down to the next application, but before I let them go onto the next application, I had better just check the status of my battery......................

It just feels like they don't really know what they are doing internally...... But then again, I've only used the phone for about 45mins in a shop, (15 of that trying to figure out the camera), and read all the posts about it!

Do I replace my aging and hardly any battery life 7110?

I work for the link (such a sad story) and we no longer offer the spv for free. I work in one of the largest stores so we're authorised to discount more than most other stores and even we couldn't do the phone for free.

Count yourselves lucky that you can get hold of one, theres limited stocks of spv everywhere so if you have to pay for the phone dont be surprised.

I paid 100 quid for mine the day it came out, I could have waited a week or two and got it for free as soon as the link started selling it but i personally didnt want to run the risk of everywhere running out which seems to be whats happening.

My advise, if a shop has any stock of the spv and you really want it, buy it. You'll never know when they will get more stock in. We have been out of stock now for 2 weeks and any stock we get in we sell the same day, usually within a few hours.

Just my $0.02c

I paid £20 for the phone on your plan 120 @ £25 + £6 gprs from my local link store 2 weeks before christmas. I tried CPW on the high st. just as i got to the counter the guy ahead of me bought the last one so in a last ditch effort i tried the Link and luckily for me they had just had a small delivery in that day.

Gave the guy the normal "i've seen it for so and so price at so and so"

He price matched it on the spot. The poor bloke in the CPW actually saved me £80.

Actually i was tempted to go back to the CPW and see if the guy was still there so I could gloat about the deal he had unwittingly dropped in my lap, but the Christamas spirit stopped me ( actually it was the fact he was over 6ft that deterred me)

Anyway there's no harm in trying your luck, and if your there in person you stand a better chance of getting a hefty discount.

i got mine from http://www.genietelecom.co.uk/genie/ last week for £free

But Yourplan200 =£30/m (for 1st 4 months, then probably yourplan60 £19 for 8months)

SPV pack = £6/m (till it runs out, then I will probably cancel grps, unless orange come out with something affordable)

Insurance =free for 1st 3 months, £5 after (I will keep the insurance, couldnt have anyting happening to my loverly spv)
