Guest CHR15 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Hi, A friend of mine gave me a C500 but when its switched on it will only go to a plain white screen Holding down the Softkeys and pressing the power button doesn't work. It just sits at a white screen I have tried the battery from my own C600 but the same thing happens. Is there any other way of resetting this thing? Many Thanks :D
Guest CHR15 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I have just tried opening it up and checking the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the pcb. It looked okay but i disconnected and reconnected it but the same thing, just a white screen. Methods I have used to boot are: power button hold down soft keys and power up hold down camera key and inserting usb lead Anything else I can try, I dont want this to go in the bin
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Sounds like your friend has turned the phone in to a nice brick by running a non compatable ROM on the device.
Guest scudo Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Sounds like your friend has turned the phone in to a nice brick by running a non compatable ROM on the device. Hi maybe an upgrade of the rom in bootloader mode ?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Worth a try but by the sound of it the bootloader may be corrupt which will prevent a reinstall unless you have specialist equipment.
Guest CHR15 Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Thanks for the replies guys. He wouldn't have messed with anything on the phone. I sold it to him about 6 Months ago purely for him to use TomTom, I dont think he even made any calls with it. He has no idea about bootloaders and ROMs. I have tried to reflash the ROM but I cannot get it into bootloader mode. As soon as the button is pressed the screen lights up with a plain screen, then nothing else. Except, after about 30 seconds the light flashes blue suggesting bluetooth is on but It cannot be detected using another bluetooth phone If I insert my own simcard in the phone, I cannot call the number (message just says number is unavailable) I dont think it is a defective screen as I think the phone should ring if I call it and I would be able to bluetooth to it. I think this thing is now a brick so if anyone has ANY feasible suggestions, even shorting something out, I am all ears, whats the worse that can happen now??
