Guest mini_man Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Heya guys im in a bit of confusion! Heres the story Story: I have a C500 which I use when i go out late and use as a risky phone when I might possibly damage my smartphone or lose it. I cannot wear earphones as they seem to fall out my ears and the Orange ones supplied are complete crap anyway! I decided today that I would put a 2.5mm plug onto my Neckband headphones so I dont have to use an adapter because the 3.5mm to 2.5mm do not seem to fit in the socket properly (they keep unpluggin themselves  ) where as the orange socket seems to fit beautifully! What I have done so far: So far I have taken the 3.5mm plug off the neckband headphones and cut off the top off volume control and above of my orange earphones. I have stripped a few centemetres of wire off both neckband and earphones revealing the cables underneath! What I have got now: What next! I am so confused! I dont know what goes where! Please can someone advise me which wires to cut and which wires too connect. Thanks Sam

Hi Sam, Have you tried the obvious and put the same coloured wires to each other? Copper could well be the "ground". The plug shown has the extra "ring" as it will also be carrying a microphone signal for the hands-free - as well as left and right stereo audio and the GND signal. Don't know whay its got 4 wires and the copper though (1 extra). Otherwise it's trial and error and your memory - trying to remember a track with an obvious bit down one particular channel. Honky Tonk Women by the 'Stones has definite bias on the percussive bit at the start. - cowbell to the right then drums to the left, though both sounds do appear on the other channel so it ain't perfect. Hope this helps anyway, Tony.
