Guest w411y Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Ok, looking to buy a domain and need advice  We want .co.uk (cheap and cheerful) however we want the site to run with the Blogsome service (Which does not offer purchasing domains). So basically we want to purchase OurName.co.uk which directs to http://OurName.blogsome.com Reason I ask is that the sites that sell domains do not make it definate if you have to host you site with them or redirect to a website currently running. I've also been told not to go for stealth domain forwarding. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can purchase the above? TIA
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Once you buy your domain name for the year it's your's to do what every you like with. I bought SmartphoneHistory from one place and moved it to web-mania who host my site. Always best to shop around and some places offer better deals for registering for two or more years.
Guest undergrid Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 (edited) I use 123-reg.co.uk, you don't have to have hosting with them, they give you full control of DNS (setting your own servers or editing your own DNS entry, you can probably set up a CNAME to do what you need I think) and you have a number of different web forwarding methods if the DNS fiddling isn't to your liking. Oh, and its nice and cheap and no transfer-out fees if you want to change registrars later. Edited September 18, 2006 by undergrid
