3G/GPRS Connect

Hi Guys - is there a way to connect the 3G/GPRS without actually opening a browser? i.e pressing the WnW button obvously opens a browser and makes the connection - but what if i just wanted to press a button just to make a connection?

Any application that needs the connection should open it.
