Guest Dr Who Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Am I correct in thinking that to set up DESKTOP Outlook with the mail2web service I need to pay for the professional package?
Guest AlanJC Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I believe so yes, but you can still use the OWA premium (bad choice of wording) login for free. There might be a work around in that using Evolution mail client for Windows (free I think) you can add an OWA server, and use that via the desktop client. I have yet to try it, but I will do in the next few days, then I can scrap Outlook on the desktop as synchronising with my PDA is the only reason I use it, and I already use mail2web, so it's a duplication of effort. Jut handy to edit things on the desktop.
Guest Dr Who Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Cheers Alan, be interested to know how you get on. Or maybe I will just stump up the 6$/month.
Guest AlanJC Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Well as soon as I get my broadband back on, I will test how it works. I have set-up OWA on Evolution on a Linux box with a corporate OWA before, just never tried it with mail2web. Target date is the 6th, but their aim has been pretty p*ss poor to date. Have been messing me around since the 18th of August!
Guest Blakey Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) I have a free mail2web account and have had this working fine on my m600 in the past. This weekend I hard reset it and now can't get my emails to appear on the phone. I have no outlook on the PC - in fact I am only syncing over the air to the exchange server. All my contacts and calendar entries sync up immediately. So the syncing is working fine. But I simply cannot get the emails onto my m600. If I look at Outlook Emails on the phone there is nothing there and in fact the Send/Recieve option is blanked out, implying that there is no account set up there. How do I set this outlook email account up correctly? What am I missing? I am wondering if I have somehow switched A2UK off? When I hard reset this time around I did a soft reset before the extended ROM was added. Is the A2UK functionality on this extended ROM? Or is there some other issue? Thanks Blakey Edited October 31, 2006 by Blakey
Guest Dr Who Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 You mean your calendar and contacts are syncing with the exchange server? In that case I believe that means the AKU2 is working. Have you checked Async on the phone is set to sync emails as well as contacts and calendar? have you tried downloading the .cab file from mail2web that sets everything up?
Guest Blakey Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Yeah I have checked that syncing emails is checked. Yeah I have downloaded the cab file which sets everything up. Is there an issue that I don't have an Outlook email account set up? I am pretty sure that last time I had the option to go into there and select "Send/Receive". That option is currently blanked out and I don't seem to have an Outlook email account set up. Obviously if I set one up by hand it would be either POP3 or IMAP4 but I guess I want neither of these for Exchange mail...? Thanks for the help... Blakey
Guest Dr Who Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Ah, you mean you have no top level Outlook account? If you look under the directory structure of messaging what is listed under Outlook email?
Guest Blakey Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Yes, that's correct. But looking under the directory structure all looks normal: + Outlook E-mail - Deleted Items - Drafts - Inbox - Outbox - Sent items + Text Messages - etc
Guest Dr Who Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Hmmm, puzzling. Have you tried setting up an account in Outlook, even a fake one?
Guest Blakey Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Yeah, just tried that and it happily set up a POP3 account - which obviously won't connect as its fake. Still no option to Send/Receive on my Outlook eMail account.... Blakey
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 You don't technically NEED the send / receive button, and sometimes WinMo goes screwy and doesn't enable that option. For example, my Hermes has that option greyed out atm, even tho the mail is coming in fine  You can get the same effect by running ActiveSync on the device and hitting 'Sync' :( P
Guest Blakey Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Hi Paul, Well, when I hit sync, it syncs calendar and contact info but not emails. And also changes to calender/contacts are (almost) instantly updated on my m600. The same is deffo not true of emails. Can you tell me if you need AKU2 to enable instant updating of calendar and contact details from an exchange server? i.e. does this mean that my AKU2 is working okay? The reason I ask is that as I said earlier I hard reset and then soft reset before the extended ROM was installed and that is the only thing I can think of which is stopping this from working? Thanks Blakey
Guest Blakey Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Fixed it. It was as simple as to deselect "email" as an option in ActiveSync, and then reselect it - it then resynced the email and since then has started working properly again. Yippee! Blakey
