Guest epson1650 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) Hi all  My problem is this: I purchased a Globalsat BT338 GPS Receiver to go with my Imate SP3 phone. I have already installed Tomtom 5 on my phone, and thought it would be easy to connect the BT receiver to my phone. I know that BT has a range of up to 10 Metres, so tried to pair my phone and receiver at about 1 metre apart. The phone said "No Devices were found", so, I scratched my head and put them side by side (touching). The phone then found the device as "BT GPS 33b1c7 which is correct. I then tried Tomtom, and it reported "no GPS Device", until I put my phone again at the side of the receiver, when it started working ok. This is what I have found when trying to pair the phone with the GPS receiver: 25mm - finds receiver as BT GPS 33b1c7. 50mm - finds receiver as BT GPS 33b1c7. 75mm - finds receiver as 000db533b1c7. 100 - 150 mm - finds receiver as 000db533b1c7. 150mm plus - No Devices were found. When the phone finds the receiver as 000db533b1c7, it will not successfully complete the pairing. I have hard reset my GPS by pulling out the battery overnight, and everything is fully charged. The phone has the latest OS rom preinstalled. Not tried pairing with another phone as I cannot source one (yet). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Edited September 20, 2006 by epson1650

Thanks I can't offer too much advice, other than 000db533b1c7 sounds like the devics MAC address! Maybe try and test with a third device. This may help establish if either the Imate or GPS receiver has BT issues? Edited September 20, 2006 by yrreP

I haven't actually added any value  D'oh! Never mind, thanks for your input anyway :( Further to my post, I jumped on one of my son's mates and pinched his Bluetooth phone :) It worked just fine, the receiver being found by his phone very quickly and at a good distance. So, it appears my phone has a poor Bluetooth signal ;) Back to Imate for repair, I think. Good job I tried to use BT before the warranty ran out ;) Bye Epson
