Scrolling through contacts

Just by accident yesterday I managed to get the scrollwheel to scroll through the initial letters in the contacts application. It displayed a big overlay screen with the initial letter and, when the scrollwheel switch was pressed, jumped to the 1st contact beginning with that letter.

I don't know how I did it and I haven't been able to do it again, but it seems like a good idea for one handed use. Can anyone tell me how to access this feature again?

That behaviour duplicates a press and hold of the down function on the direction pad. Never seen it do that but that would be perfect - hope you figure it out!

I was going to ask the same question!

Happened to me twice by accident yesterday but I can't seem to duplicate it.

Someone must know how to do this? It's defintely something to do with the scroll wheel.

I've worked it out....

... press and hold D pad up or down and phone will start to scroll by letter with a large capital letter in centre of screen. Start using scroll wheel and let go of D pad and phone will continue to scroll by letter.

You dont need to use the scroll wheel, just hold the D pad up or down, it will scroll individually through the current letter then swap to the big capital in the middle, just realease it at the your chosen letter and and will move to that section. Then you can scroll individually to the actual contact you want.

Glad you figured it out, but that makes it almost utterly pointless.
