Hi all,

I got my T-Mobile Vario II a few days ago and since this is my first WindowsMobile Smartphone and still like a virgin without any 3rd party software etc. I am thinking about to add some software to get the most out of this incredible device.

I really liked SPB Diary, especially with the Todos as the home tab. Perfect for "Getting Things Done", but I did find it slowed my phone down, especially switching orientation. Anyone know if this is because I installed it on the microSD card?

Ive got SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Diary on my hermes and they work perfectly. I have not experienced any slowdowns at all but i would reccomend that you install them to main memory (in fact they say this on the site and give a reason why (ie the the memory card is loaded after the main one))

I would definately reccomend them

Okay thanks for the answers. So the onboard tools in combination with the PocketPlus and Diary is enough and you do not miss software like AgendaFusion or PocketInformant?

I read about running today from main memory but wasn't aware diary needed to be installed from here. Do they recommend you run diary form main memory?

I run spb today from main memory (had problems from extended rom) and diary from extended rom.

I use pocket informant. I think its worth having a separate PIM package as the bundled one is pretty poor

Yeah pocket outlook is actually pretty good at storing stuff its just the today plugin display thats crap

What SPB diary does (and lots more) is make a today plugin that greatly enhances pocket outlook by listing tasks and appointments properly (ive got mine set to display the next 31 days) and also display contacts and emails and birthdays in separate tabs.

Pocket Plus adds loads of extensions to the OS and is also well worth it they both link and intergrate very well also give them a try and youll see what i mean.

tomkit66,

Before you buy spb software I would recommend you also try pocketbreeze from sbsh.net software. Pocketbreeze is highly configurable, much more than spb diary.

The support is also the best I've ever experienced - the developer, Amit, is on the forums 24/7 and will answer your questions promptly. Head over to http://www.sbsh.net and also the forums at http://www.sbsh.net/forums/

I highly recommend you do.

cheers

Tim

Agreed both sbsh and spb have trials which I would recommend you try.(obviously one set of products at a time)

I've found spb support very good to be fair. and they reply pretty quickly by email to problems or queries.

I tried the sbsh stuff and while it was good I personally preferred the spb stuff but that is just my opinion. mainly because they have so much stuff and it all just fits together and works.

I prefer to use Pocket Informant 2006 instead of a today plugin for my hermes. I like the power it gives you over your contacts , calendar and tasks and the multitude of features not available in a today plugin.

Its always open but minimized so using it is quick.

Pim today plugins use too much memory but if that wasn't a problem i'll use PocketBreeze 5. I like that alot since you can put other today plugins into its tabs

I have just got a M3100 and am looking at having a better today screen calendar plugin etc.. and would also like a replacement Calendar, like Pocket Informant 2006...

Is it wise to have both installed? Is there just one product that gives you an advanced today screen and better calendar??

Thanks

Mark...
