Guest mattyduk Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Just got back from a week away at Center Parcs in Longleat UK. I knew before I went there that Orange coverage was very sketchy, so I took an O2 PAYG sim as well, just incase. I've just installed a netcam at home and wanted to look in occasionally. The netcam works fine from the phones PIE via Orange. However when I got to CP, a couple of the things scuppered the access. 1) Orange access was now impossible (due perhaps to additional buildings and tree growth) 2) The NETcafe web browsers were awful. They were very filtered, and wouldn't let me logon to my netcam as they couldn't even display a logon dialog box. So I tried O2. I did a search for what I believed were the correct settings, and even rang O2 themselves to make sure I had access, but no luck Anybody else been able to do some web browsing using O2 PAYG in the UK, on the C550? Please help What settings did you use ? cheers Mat
Guest Samsonite Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 its a no go i'm afraid.. 02 dont let you have web browsing on the PAYG sim. So its no surfing (other than the 02 WAP stuff - which is worthless) and no Messenger either.

Some stores were very confused when i asked for credit that would only be used for GPRS.. some said i couldnt do it, some said the Orange World add-on wouldnt allow Messenger to work (which it does) so i gave up using it!! now i suffer no data at all on my ageing Magician... but with the power button knackered and the damn thing hard resetting whenever it feels like it, its time for the big jump into T-Mobile, Web and Walk with one of the new fangled things recently released!!
Guest mattyduk Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 cheers for the replies I've ordered a t-mobile sim card. sounds a much better offer of allowing you to surf the net for
