Guest whc Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Hi, I have just bought a Qtek 8300 (now that the price is wary low ), and I like to play around with my phones, trying new firmware and so on. I then changed the CID to the SuperCID (what ever the difference is), because I would like to try the i-mate firmware, to se if there was any differences. But it turned out the best firmware was the one from Qtek, and I flashed back quickly. But now I am concerned, that the warranty of my new phone is no longer valid. Is there a way to change back to the original CID (I have saved the code)? like nothing has happened :(? Will the SuperCID have any changes to the phone (cant really not tell what I does, other then lets me upgrade the firmware to a non Qtek firmware)? PS. Thanks for at great site :)...
Guest Ingvarr Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I dont think restoring original CID is possible for now. However I dont think anybody actually checks CID... But this can vary.
Guest whc Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 (edited) But what does the SuperCID do to my phone. I mean other than gives me the opportunity to upgrade to any firmware? Hmm if i can change the CID one way, it must be possible to change it back??? Edited September 24, 2006 by whc
Guest The Doctor Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Anyone??? You can but you will need to reflash part of your original rom back..... Let me know what your phone model is and i'll create a rom update utility that will flash only the IPL of your phone and convert it back your original CID. it'll seem like a normal rom update but you wont lose your settings, programs contacts etc as it leaves the OS as it is. Like you said it should be possible to change your CID back but i dont have the tools to do it without reflashing part of your rom. Phil
