Wisbar Help and Advice

So I just installed Wisbar Advance and Wisbar Advance Desktop and I have to say I don't really get it. I wanted to install the Vista theme (skin) but it just didn't go very well.

It would appear to use WAD you need to setup the desktop and every item yourself, linking back to various files in the WAD distro. Is this right?????? Seems like a PITA.

As for WA I managed to bork it. I had the default theme but it wasn't at all clear how you install a new theme. I went into WA Settings and went to some part where I imported the WA Vista file set which gave me Vista Dark, Vista Phone and Vista entries in the theme selector. So this changed the top bar but not the desktop. So I went to change from default to Vista Dark and all that happened is that everything disappeared off the desktop. Again I guess I have to set everything up myself? But it all went t*ts up when I tried to change the wallpaper. I tried to change the background to Vista grass but was OK in portrait but when I flipped to landscape the original wallpaper remained (it would appear that you can change the wallpapers independently in each orientation) but there was a blank section at the right hand end of the screen. It looked like it was using a portrait wallpaper and not refreshing the screen at the right hand end. If I turned the today bar off it worked sometimes but it didn't seem to be doing what I was telling it to do re: the wallpaper I selected. In the end I got fed up with it and uninstalled everything.

So, if anyone has any Wisbar hints and tips could they share them with me? What exactly is the procedure for choosing a new skin/theme?

Dr Who,

From what i can gather, with WAD you need to set up a portrait and a Landscape desktop separately.

Press and hold the stylus on the Desktop and go to wallpaper on portrait and landscape to set them up.

You do need to set everything separately with shortcuts and u can even give the shortcuts there own .ico file through the setup.

This is the beauty of the app, everything is customisable

Cheers mbeattie. I think the problems I was seeing were due to WAD not WA. When I flicked between portrait and landscape I could see my old desktop image for a few seconds and then it was overwritten. In a case of RTFM (to be fair there is NO manual but there is a sticky on the WA forum) it would appear that this is the virtual desktop of WAD and that WA preserves the wallpaper you select under Today in settings. I only really want the Vista or Mac-ised title bars, at least initially, so will stick to WA. I would love to have the full OS-X style desktop but I think it will take a while to get my brain around virtual pages and the like.

Having said that I may end up installing a different skinable today app so I may give up on WA altogether.
