Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Do the specs on this thing freak anyone else out just a bit? http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?la...=US#product,n95 5 MP Camera + GPS + HSDPA! P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Oh what i'd give for that device running WM. Wonder if Nokia will ever make WM phones? P

P Shame Symbian is such a piss poor OS.... it can't even multitask properly! Phil [EDIT: Why is it only triband GSM and single band UMTS? Thought something like this would be Quadband ] Edited September 27, 2006 by The Doctor
Guest The Doctor Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 (edited) Oh what i'd give for that device running WM. Wonder if Nokia will ever make WM phones? P My guess is that nokia will continue to make almost perfect phones like this.... and sh*t all over them by making them run symbian. If it was WM it WOULD be perfect (a touchscreen wouldnt be amiss though....) Phil [EDIT: I'll also reserve judgement about the keypad layout till i use one.... the N91's and the N73 were HATEFUL!] Edited September 27, 2006 by The Doctor
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Symbian is better than it was with the third edition, but I still don't really get on with it, and much much prefer WM. Hardware specs like these are compelling tho... but unless the sync story is way way better than it is now, I can't see it happening. A proper .net Compact Framework port to Symbian would have to happen too  P

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 I want OTA ActiveSync as good as WM, and the applications concerned (mail etc) as good as WM. The problem probably is i'm so used to mail etc. on WM that anything else doesn't feel right  P
Guest Looby Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Wouldn't this be nice!

P Am I completely misreading it? A - Its for the US Market hence the bands B - Its not UMTS its CDMA C - Its not got HSDPA ? Edited September 27, 2006 by jimbouk
Guest Dr Who Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Do the specs on this thing freak anyone else out just a bit? http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?la...=US#product,n95 5 MP Camera + GPS + HSDPA! P Looks absolutely amazing! But then so did the N80 and it took 10 months longer than predicted to arrive, I know I was waiting, and then it turned out to be a bit, well, sheet. The three things that would concern me are: 1) Still only QVGA - boo! 2) 950 mAh battery??? Having a bubble, methinks. 3) RAM - the N series, other than the N70, have all been criminally short of RAM which is overcome by a feature of Symbian that closes your open apps when the memory load gets too heavy. Cack.
Guest The Doctor Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Wouldn't this be nice! mmmmmmmmm......... throw in WiFi and HSDPA and i'll take 3 :( Phil

Guest richard_d Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 all i can say is, NICE SPECS!!! never seen a phone with such a nice piece of hardwares combined, might have to try something new. :( Looks nice, but can it run more than a couple of apps before falling over  Symbian isn't terrible, but...
Guest stripeycat Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Unbelievable spec, but why oh why can't nokia make a beautiful handset any longer...? the thing looks like a chrome brick!
Guest The Doctor Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 C - Its not got HSDPA It has the 3.5G standard, ie, HSDPA Look HERE for more info Looks nice, but can it run more than a couple of apps before falling over :) Symbian isn't terrible, but... No symbian IS terrible at multitasking ;) Unbelievable spec, but why oh why can't nokia make a beautiful handset any longer...? the thing looks like a chrome brick! it does look very chunky ;) though to my eyes more like a chromed slab of turkish delight.... not the most portable of items, as asthetically pleasing, can't do more than one thing at once but it has some very sweet features :( Phil
Guest sporkguy Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Wouldn't this be nice! Believe it or not though, I find my K800i is superb as it is - for a dumbphone, that is. Mind you, I do miss Pushmail and proper web browsing.
Guest hunyango_uk Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Unbelievable spec, but why oh why can't nokia make a beautiful handset any longer...? the thing looks like a chrome brick! true but we have to admit that the phone is still a nice piece of hardwares combine. so sad that it is running symbian, i still love my wm phone/s. :(
