extending battery life by disabeling automatic band?

Hello everyone,

I stumbeled across an old topic on this forum about the Moterola MPx200 with some posts suggesting that changing the band option from "automatic" to a prefferred band (900/1800 eg) would improve battery life: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...ging+completely

i was wondering (since i can't find alot of other topics on this) if this actually works and if so if it would also work on an I-mate SP5m?

Further more i am wondering where this option is on the i-mate sp5m, i do remember seeing it on my c500, but on the sp5m i can only find a place where i can change network from automatic (default) to manual (wich might also work, since i got the same network all the time if not on vacation).

If anyone had tried this or knows more about it i'd gladly hear it, since the battery life is great but can still be improved in my opinion :rolleyes:
