Guest richard_d Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 I noticed on xda forums a link to business card reading software, that will use a Hermes camera to scan a business card and put the results into contacts. Now I've not got a lost of need to add business card contact details to my phone, but can think of uses for simple OCR software. Does anyone know whether anyone produces anything that will simply output to Word or a text file? Thanks, Richard
Guest Driekus Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) There's ScanR, but it's output is pdf. I think in theory you could convert that to text (on a desktop). Would that work for you? Give it a go, it's free. (and of course report back if u're (un)succesful...) Edit: thought it was free, but it's only a 30-day trial. And you'll have to send your picture to their server, where they will optimize it and email you back with the pdf. Don't know if they store your docs as well... Edited September 28, 2006 by Driekus

Thanks - interesting but not quite what I was after - really wanted an in device solution. The business card reading software shows it's possible but I can't see anything available. Richard
