Guest thecresta Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) Hi all, I need a bit of advice please (and I wont blame anybody if I get a dodgy deal  ) Is it worth getting a Prophet now for Edited October 6, 2006 by thecresta
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 None of the above. Buy yourself an MDA Vario II on eBay and get it unlocked if you're not on T-Mo. It's easily the best Pocket PC around at the moment. P
Guest thecresta Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 (edited) Hi Paul, I've always been a bit sceptical about buying high-end electrical devices from ebay - mostly to do with the lack of guarantees. I see some sellers still offer the network's warranty, but I'm sure somewhere the legal system will let me down if it developed a problem. You see I have notoriously bad luck with electronics (my friends think I generate too much static electricity :) ) If there is a new Prophet under Edited October 6, 2006 by thecresta
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Well an Eten M600+ isn't much smaller, personally i'd steer clear of Eten. The Prophet is nice enough, and yes, the Trinity should be good. P
Guest thecresta Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Ah. I've just answered my own question. The Eten is too unreliable and ugly, and If I'm not prepared to spend
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 FWIW, I got my Vario II for 300 quid on eBay, by buying carefully from reputable a seller... P
Guest thecresta Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Oh no... :( Just been down the Orange shop and had a look at the absolutely stunning M3100. May have been a big mistake! Just a quick question - when you buy a 'BNIB' device off ebay and it says '12 months warranty', is this something the buyer can use, or would it need to be sent back to the seller to get it replaced? I think I may be converted! I'm such a push over! Cheers, Andy
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Devices have a 1 year warranty that will be honoured by HTC directly. P
Guest thecresta Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Erm, might have solved that problem. :( Just looked on Expansys - they have a sim free TyTN for
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006  That's amazing! Link? P

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Uh oh... Looks like you've just bought yourself an 'O2 400' connection! See the 'bundle comprises' tab (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=141769&tab=3) :( P
Guest thecresta Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Wow! Paul, you have saved me from a very silly mistake! The 'contract' part of the deal hardly stands out though ... but thats no excuse for not looking carefully! Fortunately the order has not been processed yet - I have just sent an (apologetic) email 'telling' them to cancel it! I owe you one! :( Many many (many) thanks, Andy
