M3100 and Outlook Contacts

Hi all,

I recently got my hands on an Orange M3100, a nice upgrade from my Orange C500.

I have installed AS4.2 and am using outlook 2003-SP2. The M3100 syncs fine and settles down. But i have noticed that some contacts which are on my PC are NOT on my M3100. These contacts however do appear on my C500. (The C500 syncs fine with the new AS 4.2).

These contacts I notice have "notes" added to them. I have added these information in the lower right pane of an individuals contact vCard (i.e. double-click on a friends contact). This is similar to the lower pane that is in Outlook 2002. (Please refer to Test.zip for a sample of vCard)Test.zip

All my other contacts without the notes sync fine. If I were to make a new contact with additional "notes" on the M3100 and sync, it would show on my PC. But if I were to edit this new contact created on the phone, it will not show up on the M3100. The same goes for any new contacts that I make on the PC that contains "notes"

This problem is also observed in my calender items. All my calender items with additional items on the lower half of the "add new appointment" window will not sync with my M3100.

AS4.2 and Outlook does however still sync all these items with my C500

I am going nuts now with this strange issue........

Even tried the AS 4.5 Beta 2 to no avail.

I would appreciate any help or advice I can get.

IIRC, this is a problem with WM5 devices; there was a post in the Universal (M5000) forum on a similar topic. I think that Outlook on WM5 uses slightly different fields to map the contacts and they don't match with Outlook on the desktop. When you add the contact on the phone, it's stored in a Notes2 field and gets sync'ed correctly with the PC; the converse is not true, as PC-Outlook stores the notes in a Notes field which doesn't exist in Pocket Outlook.

Or something like that :rolleyes: If you search the "Pocket PC" forums for "outlook contact note" (for example!), you should turn up the post I think I'm remembering!

HTH, Mark.

Cheers for the heads up.

I've had a look around and managed to come to this post;

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...++contact++note

Thats the closest one that mentions my problem. The thing is, there is still no solution to this....or perhaps I have not came across the appropriate post just yet.

As in that post, if I made a new contact with some notes added to it on my M3100, it will sync to the PC. Once i open it on my PC and edit that note, it will not sync with the phone again.

I have tried to design my own form in outlook 2003 but the template it gives me seems to be based on the old outlook 2002....whereby the notes section would take up the entire lower half of the personal data tab. This contrast to the template of outlook 2003 whereby the notes section only takes up the lower right column of the screen.
