Owner information cab

Hello,

I'm new to deploying cab files and customizing pda/smartphones, but thanks to this site I'm already able to automate 70% of all tasks i otherwhise have to do manually.

For 2 tasks however, I can't find any information.

I would like to add in the cab file some basic owner information like the company address, the email domain in the email address and the telephone of the reception. I set everything on my testdevice qtek9100, exported the the keys in HKCU\Control Panel\Owner and added this to an inf file and compiled it to cab.

After importing the cab everything is ok in the registry, but not on the Owner screen. The owner screen is empty. When I press ok on the owner screen and go back to registry, everything is cleared out there too. Even a reboot doesn't solve it.

Second thing, I'm also looking for creating connections. I would like to add the gprs settings for Proximus and change the internal connection to use a proxy. Does somebody knows how to solve this?

So far a lot of readers, but apparantly nobody has to distribute smartphones/pda to a company.

If anyone has some experience how to distribute Owner info to other smartphones, I'm glad to know how to do it.

I read about a Today refresh tool which could maybe solve it, but so far no luck in finding it. The problem is that the registry doesn't reflect the new Owner info on the Today screen.

Not done an Owner name setting, but could it be that that part of the registry is protected (I can't see why it would be)

Do you have the device fully unlocked?

The device is fully unlocked. When you enter for example everything correctly like name, email, address via the normal way, then export all the settings in the registry everything is ok in the reg file. When I hard reset the device, import the reg file diurectly (or via a cab file) then everything is ok in the registry but not on the today screen. The owner remains empty. When you check the owner settings, everything is empty, when you click OK then everything is again empty in the registry too.

It seems like the Today screen is not accepting a setting which is set directly in the registry.

If it is possible via another way, I'm glad to hear about it as we have to deploy about 200 smartphones in november.
