M3100 Active Sync problem

Actually I have two problems. The first one is that I have done an upgrade install on my laptop (this is the PC I use for ALL my contact management) and now active sync will only let me sync windows favorites. I have uninstalled active sync, deletred the sync profile from the phone and retried but to no avail. The phone appears in active sysnc as WM_SYSTEM not as SPV3100. Anyone have any clue as to what reg entries (if any) I need to delete form the PC so it will go through the partnering routine again.

The next issue is I cannot for the life of me get the Phone to be recognised as a USB modem. Anyone done a decent guide??

First unplug the usb from your computer and then for the name change simply change the phones name within the phone , go to settings ,system, about and choose device id , then change the name to what ever you want , reconnect the phone to the pc and active sync will rename itself to the same as the phones name

I`ve done that however activesync will still only let me sync windows favorites not my outlook contacts. I have even tried uninstalling outlook and reinstalling that.

Active Sync on the M3100 - delete the pairing

Active Sync on the PC - File > Delete Patnerships & devices

Re-sync

Make sure that contacts are checked to be synced.

On a side note, is there only one account within Outlook? Sometimes that can be a pain

You will need the USBMDM modem drivers to help use your handset as a modem. They are generic HTC ones, and will work with any HTC device... there are on here somewhere i beleive!

To make use of your handset as a modem take a look at - http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=245798&hl=

Change the at string to at+cgdcont=4,"IP","orangeinternet"

Although to be honest you most probably wont need to put that in as the APN will / should be stored on the device.

Regarding the oulook contacts issue- I had this exact same problem where I was basically getting everything synced except for contacts for some strange reason.

I found a solution on the net which worked.. I'll have a look for it again and post it here for you soon.

Thanks for the advice however I have tried the above. (See attached screenshots when I repartner the device)

This is driving me nuts. I dont want to have to do a full format/install, there must be some way round it.
