Hi there guys,

I'm a new member to this forum and to all this new technology stuff, lol. Thus, i would appreciate any help and support you guys and girls can provide.

How long should i charge my Vario 2 for the first time before i use it?

Also how do i get it to check my yahoo.mail account every 1/2 hour or so for new messages and also download the messages?

Is their a away of checking my web n walk (t mobile) speed?

If answers to my ignorant questions are already posted then please point me in the right direction

Thanks

The manual states to charge for about 12hrs from memory but the device will always show fully charged long before that.

No idea on how to check Yahoo.mail regularly as I believe this is a web based mail and so isn't supported by default in Windows Mobile (other then in Pocket Internet Explorer?). If it was POP3 or IMAP it would be a simple matter of using Pocket Outlook's options to add account and then set the interval for regular downloading of emails.

Finally, to check the data speed you are getting on your device on T-Mobile (it should be HSDPA - the fastest currently available in the UK with current theoretical max of 1.8mps) you could use one of the following:

Yahoo Mail is pop3 - on the Yahoo page there's a link to set up that side of it, and the email account wizard on the Vario II will do the rest - it's straightforward - trust me!

DSLReports seems the more reliable - www.dslreports.com\mspeed

Hey thanks for all the advice guys,

My yahoo mail address is non pop3 as it is 'yahoo.com' and not 'yahoo.co.uk'.

Noodles - What is 'mail2web' and how do you forward your yahoo messages to it?

Does the Vario II have an intergrated GPS transceiver?

Also, do you have to pay extra for HSDPA?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Not a useable one but there's discussion on xda developers suggesting the chip set might be able to support it...

HSDPA is free

Are you sure you aren't confusing the Hermes with the Trinity? I can't see any discussion on xda-devs about the Hermes family having a GPS chipset.

Definitely Hermes - was three or four weeks back - i'll have a dig for the thread next time I'm on a PC.
