Must have apps?

Hey guys, great forum you all have here!

Supposed to be getting my first windows mobile phone today - Vario II!!!!

Should be awesome!

Because it seems like you've all had your WM phones for somewhile I've just got a few questions I was hoping some of you could answer :rolleyes:

1 - What, in your opinion is the app(s) you couldnt live without on ur pda?

2 - GPS worth it?

3 - Remote desktop on WM? Is it possible? Not VNC.

4 - Is there a good app to access your files on the move?

5 - Whats the best messenger client? VPN client? SSH client? FTP client?

6 - Is there a good html/php editor?

7 - Best media player? Good video converter to watch movies/series on the move?

Last but not least:

8 - Is IE pocket any good? Should one drop it and move to minimo or Opera?

Tried to google all of this stuff but only came up with a bunch of crap really, would much rather get opinions from everyday PDA users :(

1. Have a look through Paul's Must Have Free and Commercial software threads at the top of this forum - two apps that spring to mind for me are SPB Backup and SBSH iLauncher.

2. I'm tempted by GPS for walking (although I've managed fine with a map so far) - Wouldn't bother with SatNav though because I don't drive!

3. I believe so but haven't tried.

4. Don't know.

5. Never felt the need for messenger.

6. Don't know.

7. Only tried WM10 as supplied, and image ran smoothly,but speech syncing was poor.

8. I like PIE - it's pretty good, I wasn't impressed enough with Opera to buy it, although I have installed Opear Mini which I use for the odd site. I liked the extensions to PIE that Reensoft PIEPlus offered, but when I tried it I had a lot of problems with the browser crashing - haven't seen other people reporting problems though.

1. SmartFilter, Contact-ing, AE Button Plus, Batti, NetFront, SPB Backup, Mort Player, Zphone dialpad skin (not really an app, but a must have).

2. Definately, if you whant to "whop ass" all your buddies phones/pdas :rolleyes:

8. Try NetFront!
