Hi,

I am thinking of moving back from Symbian to Smartphone, probably to an SP5 or a Vodafone V1240.

I'd like to ask users of those phones 3 questions

1. Does Bluetooth work well for headsets and syncing

2. Does Opera Mini work ok on the phone?

3. How does the overall stability and performance compare to a C500?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the feedback Harrysaab.

Is the camera any use? I know it won't be as good as the camera on my current phone (Nokia N73) but is it usable at all?

Phone cameras will never be as good as compact digital camera. even the latest offerings from Sony Erricson, Nokia and Samsung can't compete to taking photos on a digital camera. For example you have a real flash  not a white LED that lights up for a bit while you take a photo.

A cam phone doesn't need to compete with a digicam to be useful. I'm not even an amateur photographer but I like taking snaps, mainly of my kids and occasionally of whiteboards after meetings. I find my Nokia N73 more than adequate for that kind of use, so much so that I'm betting the 1.3MPX SP5 will still be good enough, and my phone is always with me. In contrast my Samsung digicam takes much better photos and much much much better video - but it sits on a shelf at home unless I am going somewhere where I know I am going to need it.

I take the same view with MP3 players. My phone doesn't sound quite as good and it doesn't hold as much music but it sounds good enough and holds enough. If it means I can leave my iPod at home plugged into the amp that's good enough for me.

I just won an auction for a Vodafone v1240 (SP5 in disguise). Here's hoping it's good enough!

By the way, the Sony Ericsson K800i does have a zeon flash but the sync is too limited for me. I spent a year with a K750i and a separate XDA Exec as a PDA and I want to get back to a one box solution.

I completely agree with idea of having a 'one box' solution like you said

But also like you said it wont be quite as good as having a dedicated piece of kit for everything.

Also for taking photos of whiteboards etc try searching for a piece of software called ScanR for ppc. It'll isolate the text and rotate it etc for you :(

Well I've tried the v1240 and it seems pretty good except that the sucker just will not sync with my laptop. I've upgraded to AS4.2 and my XDA Exec still syncs perfectly, as it has done for the last 9 months. But the v1240 just reports status error 85010014. This is frustrating!

Take a look in the TIPS 'n TRICKS section in the forum of http://www.gadgetapps.net/ There's a small app that I've described there that may help you sync your phone.

Obviously, you'll need to write it to a memory card before you can install it...

Thanks for the suggestion Sp00k. I tried it out but it didn't make any difference so it looks like the phone will have to go back on eBay.
