Guest dwostmann Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I want to know if there is a way to permently move the contacts storage from the phone to the storage card? Reason being is I have close to 4,000 contacts and it fills the onboard storage. Can this be done through editing the registry? What is file on the phone that houses the contacts? Please help!!! Thanks
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 The registry mod is in the Tweaks topic pinned at the top of this section. Alternatively you could get Smart Tweaker or Tweaks 2k2 for a whole range of useful hacks. Both are available from MoDaCo Fairdeal

Guest andy_sutton Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 SWEET!!! Thanks so much, I'll check it out. I'm not aware of a way to move the contacts to the storage card. SmartTweaker and other tweaks will relocate your inbox, attachments, and IE Cache to the storage card but not the contacts. I'm not sure if that can be done. If so I would be interested but the topic referred to just lists how to move the inbox and attachments.

I did see where someone else also asked about this but no answer was given. My thoughts are if there is a way to move the inbox and other files, there has to be a way to move the contacts. I hope someone can shed some light on this as I'm sure otheres would be interested in this. Edited October 4, 2006 by dwostmann

Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Do you really need 4000 contacts on your phone though? As far as I know you can only store your contacts on the device, only backups can be made to the storage card.

Well, not really but unfortunately I'm at the mercy of the sych settings for our CRM solution at work. I can only import a certain subset into outlook and it includes all my clients and contacts. so for the interim I need to download them all. So there is no way to redirect this to a file on the storage card? I really didn't think this would be such a big deal but it must be. I figured it would be a similar setting as the e-mail redirection to the storage card.
Guest ieubts Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 I have the same issue....not 4000, but I have 3000+ contacts and there is plenty of memory on the phone to handle up to 5-6k contacts. Just make sure everything else goes to the storage card (pictures, video, programs, mp3s, etc). I haven't found a way to move pim.vol to the storage card.....but all the other stuff can run on the card.
