Guest conan_troutman Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 well I have to say i am starting to get hugelydissapointed with HTC first there is way too little memory on the damn device and now the battery has died on the internel system which according to the box it came in was put together in may of this year surly it should last longer than that. I jsut hope there is some sort of repair for this
Guest DSF Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 i have a spv c600 and have the same problem. when i take off the battery the time&date resets.. and i have the phone just for a few months. i think that this problem was present since the day i bought the phone (from orange shop). so what function has the backup battery?

There is no 'backup battery' in a sense on modern PPC's and smatphones, the old WM2003/2002 pocket PC's had backup batterys to stop them losing ALL their data when the main battery was removed as their flash memory was volatile like PC RAM, soon as you killed power it lost the data. The battery on the mainboard of the smartphones is merely their to keep the date and time, like the small button battery on PC motherboards. It's not a 'backup battery' in the sense you can power your PC/smartphone off it  Phil
Guest conan_troutman Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 i get what the back up batery is for I do know its just for the time and date settings however surely it should last longer then 6 months and if it doesn't why can it not be replaced like those of solar powered calendars can
