Guest Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 (edited) [teaser]Rivia writes... Hello Everyone! After few months of coding, struggling, designing we are ready to give you the first beta of our new application called ‘Fishopolis’. As with our previous program, Gentimer, we are looking for beta testers that would help to make this product better. The first 50 people that will give us feedback about Fishopolis, will receive a free copy of this program. If you’re interested, please keep on reading. It is a shooting game in which your task is to shoot fish. What the real fun part about it is that you aim using your phone. The game detects the movement from the phone’s camera. Currently first four levels are implemented and two short modes – Time Challenge, and Countdown. Story Mode: In this mode you will have to complete a treasure hunt quest, you will have to fight various fish to get to the end. There are also some bonus levels in which you won’t have do deal with running time, and just enjoy shooting frenzy (In current version 4th is the bonus level, in which you’ll shoot school of herrings) Time Challenge and Countdown: These are short modes where your task will be to get as much points in limited time or to kill all the fish in the aquarium as soon as possible. Important Information: This game will run only on Windows Mobile 5.0 devices having 240x320 or 320x240 screens (sorry 2003 users – there is no access to camera in previous versions of Windows Mobile). This first version is rather buggy and has lots of things to do, but its main purpose is to check if it will run on various devices (Motorola Q especially). We will appreciate any feedback about bugs you find, features you miss, or anything you like/dislike about the game. If you are willing to help, here are the links for the game: [/teaser] PC Installer: http://rivia.net/Products/Fishopolis/Fishopolis_Setup.exe CAB Installer: http://rivia.net/Products/Fishopolis/Fishopolis.cab In the games directory (e.g \Program Files\Fishopolis\) , a file will be created called Fishopolis.log. Please send it to support [at] rivia.net, so we could check for any problems during running the game. So if you would like to test it please write here in this topic, and give us your name, smartphone model, OS version so we could send you future updates. So Happy Testing! Here are some screenshots to give more light on the product  Edited November 13, 2006 by Guest

Guest Meneldor Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 (edited) Aaah, great idea, I've seen something of this sort on some old Siemens smartphone - and this game is a must have ! First impressions are good, but - really, maybe you should place it to Games subdirectory in the Start Menu? Features really needed but missing:Camera sensitivity level - I have to run all over the office to kill a couple of fishes, tunable sensitivity would be great!Turn Sound On/Off - read 1 and imagine me running all over the office with sounding bullet fires :(.I keep testing :)! Guest Qtek8310 Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Fantastic Game!! It's real action. It's not for playing it during flights . Nice aqua effect on the video taken by the camera also. It would be nice to choose difficulty levels with more or less fish. And as mentioned before sound on/off is needed. Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Finally had a chance to have a play this on the Vario. Runs well without any real issues. I did notice when my phone was hunting for a signal the signal icon kept flashing onto the screen. Apart from that ther are no real apparent issues as such. Looking forward to the final release.
Guest jcjdoss Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 (edited) When I play story mode it says game over even thoug I'm playing Edited October 7, 2006 by jcjdoss
Guest SilentBob Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Hi, Definitely interested in giving this a go. Name: Simon Hardy Device: T-Mobile MDA Vario (HTC Wizard) OS Version: Windows Mobile 5 (OS 5.1.195 Build 14847.2.0.0) Will leave feedback & log once I have installed it and given it a go. Will try and get feedback from my kids too.
Guest Qtek8310 Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Yesterday I was on a party. I let some people play Fishopolis. I didn't see my phone until we went home  It was really populair.
Guest 888 Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Tried this on my Vario2 and it is pretty much unplayable. The graphics were all blurry and the swimming fish left trails after them, so much so, that after a while the screen was full of crud. Had difficulty exiting the game as well. Didn't get any sound apart from the occasional shooting sound. If you can get it to work, it would be pretty neat - it's vey similar to the mosquito game on the siemens mobiles.

Kind of like a portable Nintendo Wii  Full props for coming out with this great idea. Rivia gets my nomination for most innovative developer of the year with this app! Feedback: I noticed that about 2 minutes into the game, that my fire button stopped working completely, I had to exit and restart. Even though it's still beta, I hope I may add one or two suggestions: Have certain bonus fish worth more either through size or number of shots to kill it (blinking weak spots, etc.) Have special items give bonus weapons/abilities (rapid fire, wide area shot, freeze fish, continuous laser beam to swat the fish with, etc.) Maybe even have some fish attack you if you don't kill them in time after firing on them (related to the weak spots mentioned above) Place icon in Games program folder :( (no biggie, I did it myself) This is an excellent game. I hope to see more like it. I'll post more feedback as I find quirks.
Guest gummyavenger Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Wow, I love it! Not sure how much my boss will share my enthusiasm tomorrow :( Works great on my Cingular 2125. One thing I noticed is that sometimes (though not every time) in story mode on level 2 (could happen in other levels, just have only noticed it in level 2) when you get a game over, it doesn't start you over like it should. Instead, it just disables your gun and you sit there with fish floating around on the screen not able to shoot them until you exit and go back in. As I lay here playing on my couch looking up at the ceiling, I think it would be very cool if some environmentally-aware features were implimented... perhaps some fish could be attracted to bright lights your camera sees. Or maybe your weapon could change if you hold it in a dark spot for a couple seconds or something. Anyway, thanks for the public beta! Looking forward to distracting my coworkers with this tomorrow  Oh, and I love the graphics! Daniel Isenhower (jml @ fervorstudios.com) Cingular 2125 Windows Mobile 5.0 (5.1.195)
Guest rivia Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Hello Everyone, First of all thanks for all the positive feedback and your help - it is crucial for the final release. I got your every comment and now I'm starting to work on resolving all the issues and getting everything to work as it should. I'll keep you informed about new beta releases in this topic and emails to people, who send their comments to support [at] rivia.net. I must say that the popularity of this beta is so big (over 300 downloads during the weekend), I have to limit the number of the free copies of to 50. All of you, who have already posted some feedback, are already signed for the free copy. Nevertheless every opinion and feedback will be deeply thought, and we'll try to add it to the final game and make it as polished as possible. So once again for all your help - and I'm back to work  -- Best Wishes, Mateusz Grzegorzek

Guest dearsina Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Gutted that I don't have a WM5 device, stupid T-Mobile SDA. Sounds like a fab game.
Guest odt Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 What an absolutely awesome game!! Excellent presentation and hilariously fun to play!! I have noticed that sometimes when i get to he end of a level the game freezes with just some fish moving about the screen and the 'shooting' function is disabled. Apart from that its great, although i gather from previous posts that something similar already existed, for me this is a fresh and exciting change on my smartphone. I have emailed the Fishopolis_Log.txt file to the email address on the opening post. thanks Kyle Boyd Orange SPV C600 Windows Mobile 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0)
