Guest Ben Blok Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Hi, I recently got the HTC 8300 and I was wondering if I can make it use WAP. I know I have access to WAP since my old phone can use WAP. I have all the data I need right here: The BASE WAP on CSD settings are: Homepage: http://wap.base.be Connection type: Continuous Secure connection: Off Carrier: Data Number: +32486927927 IP-adres for WAP Gateway: 172.031.198.037 Verificationtype: Normal Type: ISDN Speed: 9600 Username: BASE PAssword: 1234 Now, I cant seem to find where half the settings are supposed to go. Like Gateway, connection type, homepage (is that even crucial ?), Carrier and Verificationtype. I can find all the rest in the dial-up connection screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Guest jimbouk Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 I would have thought it is as simple as inputting the correct WAP details as a new connection, then telling the device to use that by default instead of the GPRS connection?
Guest Ben Blok Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Nope, that doesnt work, I'm pretty sure the missing settings (Mainly GateWay IP) have to be set somewhere. But where I do not know.
Guest martin Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Enter the following setup and attempt to connect to http://www.google.com. If you get 'page not found' then change proxy to port 9201 and Type=WAP and and then try connecting to http://www.google.com/wml Hope it works OK  Create dialup connection. Description: WAP dialup Connects to: The Internet Phone number: +32486927927 User name: BASE Password: 1234 Primary DNS: Secondary DNS: IP address: Create Proxy connection Description: WAP Proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP network Proxy (name:port): 172.031.198.037:8080 Type: HTTP Username: Password: In Settings - Data connections WAP connection: WAP dialup In Internet Explorer, Menu-Options-Connections Untick 'Auto detect settings' Set 'Select network: WAP network'
