Hello friends,

My QTEK 8300's (or Imate SP5m, whichever your prefer) bundled headphones crapped out recently. Only the right side seems to output any sound and the left side is completely mute. On prodding the headphone wire, sometimes the left side also jumps into life, and it seems that its a headphone issue and not a connector issue. After a bit of research, I found out that the SHURE I2C-t headphones would be an awesome replacement (albeit a bit expensive).

Can anyone confirm if these headphones work alright with the Imate SP5m/SP5/QTEK 8300/8310 ? Any other suggestions/opinions are also very welcome !

Thanks.

Yes the single-ended 2.5mm plug is compatible, see here and drop-down to i-mate.

I use a pair of E2C's daily with an adaptor (made it but can be bought from ebay for a few pounds - check adaptor is stereo). I can use any earphones but obviously no mic for hands-free chatting.

The I2C-t's are neat but might be a bit clunky with the mouthpiece fixed in the way it is - the E2C wires go behind each ear and combine into a single cable around the back of the neck, the I2C-t has the mouthpiece in the right ear cable so has to come around the front of the head.

One poster here reported as these are very good isolation phones it's unatural to speak without hearing your own voice so you tend to remove one ear plug to speak at the right volume, he returned them for this reason. Shure said the phone should provide some side-tone to give you a little feedback of your own voice so you subconsciously adjust the volume of your voice but for whatever reason if there is a setting no-one has discovered it yet.
