Hi

I'm in the market for a new handset.

I live in Denmark, but I am going to Canada for 4 months, and I want my next phone to work there too.

I found this text online about quadband: http://www.thetravelinsider.info/roadwarri...dbandphones.htm

In the last year or so, there has been a growing amount of GSM service on the 850 MHz band. This type of service will usually be seen in rural areas, because the 850 MHz band has better range than the 1900 MHz band. It can sometimes also found in city areas, particularly if the cell phone company has spare frequencies unused in the 850 MHz band, but no remaining frequencies to use in the 1900 MHz band.

How do I find out, if I need GMS850 support? I am going to live in Fernie, BC, Canada.

Depending on your budget why not look for a quadband Smartphone like the imate SP5?

There are a few about now and it may save problems in the future.

Following the link the original post to http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_ca.shtml the cobverage maps seem to show Fido having coverage in that area and ads Fido is 1900 only It would seem not.

Which Network would you be using? If a Danish one, you need to check to see if they have a roaming agreement with fido and if you are planning to get a SIM out there it's probably worth checking to see if the do actually have coverage there - can you ask someone out there (a hotel maybe?) If Fido have coverage you don't need 850 which is only used by Rogers.

Or so I believe....
