Guest odt Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Does anyone know if it it possible to download pod casts onto the c600? What is the best way to do this? Hi Moonshot, Podcasts are simply mp3 files, exactly the same as mp3 music files and are handled the same way by the WM platform. I am a big fan of podcasts and tend to listen to the 'Podiobook' category. I find that the easiest way to download podcasts is to use itunes to subscribe to the podcast in question. Itunes saves all your podcasts as .mp3 in a user specified file into your 'my music' folder in 'my documents' on your PC. Then its simply a matter of using activesync to transfer the files to your handset (i find that its easier and faster to use WM5 Storage and transfer the files) Windows media player will play your podcasts fine, but i find that TCPMP is much better becasue of its ability to jump straight to a time in the files rather than 'fast-forwarding' using WMP. Particularily useful if you are listening to lengthly shows. hope this helps (podcastalley.com ftw :-) )

What is the best way to do this? odt's advice is good if you want to be connected to your computer. You can also download podcasts directly to your device using FeederReader. FeederReader handles podcasts, audio and video and anything else for which you have a player installed. Plus it's a great news reader as well. I'd love to have your feedback on the program. FeederReader continues to be wildly popular, has won numerous awards including voted "best" by Brighthand, Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine Best Software Awards Nominee 2005 and 2006, and "Best Of Show" at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo for "Best Mobile RSS Reader for Podcasts" in 2006. If you need any help with FeederReader, I answer all questions at the FeederReader Forums including helping with specific feeds or media files. Guest odt Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Lovin your work Greg, unfortunately i'm on Orange UK so downloading large files using my mobile (on average 28mb per 30 mins) is waaaaay out of the question for me. :)
Guest GSmith Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Lovin your work Greg, unfortunately i'm on Orange UK so downloading large files using my mobile (on average 28mb per 30 mins) is waaaaay out of the question for me. ;) odt, I appreciate it! I find GPRS/EDGE speeds fast enough for audio downloads, but video (unless heavily compressed) is does not download quite fast enough for my taste over GPRS. For some, this is an issue of cost. In the United States, we can get unlimited cell phone data connection for about $20 extra per month (T-Mobile & Cingular). I'm not sure how, or if, this will change when high-speed data connections are widespread. One thing extra I'd like to mention is that FeederReader can be set up to not activate your cell phone data connection during offline reading and you can sync when you are connected through Activesync or HotSpot. This is definately an option for those who want mobile RSS reading news and blogs and not just podcasting. You can also set FeederReader up to download podcast feeds then let you cherry-pick individual episodes to download. For more information on setting up for "stay offline" reading, see this thread: http://feederreader.pocketcasting.com/view...php?p=3053#3053 For more information on "cherry-picking" enclosures, see: http://feederreader.pocketcasting.com/view...php?p=3070#3070 Hope this helps!
