Battery Status Icon always empty

Hi I've searched the forum and no-one else seems to have this problem.

I've just received my m3100 and it works perfectly well, it charges, etc. However the small battery icon always displays it as empty. When I click on it the power page says it is at 100% and when I use wifi/bluetooth for a few hours it drops down as you would expect.

I have phoned orange support, who have never heard of it. Having said that the guy didn't know what the phone itself looked like. I have tried a hard reset.

Has anyone else experienced this and more importantly have they fixed.

Thanks

Manni

At the risk of "teaching my granny to suck eggs" - could you elaborate on what the guage looks like when the phone is charged and as it discharges?

When charging a plug appears in the middle of the icon. It is completely static. When unplugged from the charger and in use the icon never changes from being empty. See the attached image which show exactly what it looks like when not on charge.

That looks completely normal to me!

They all look like that when charged. As they discharge, a different color should fill up from the left (I think it is that end - mine is full at the moment!)

Oh, right. My previous PPC are the ipaq 5450 which shows all green when fully charged. So I was expecting it to be the same. Many Thanks for the quick help.
