Guest mcolbeck Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Just Ordered my XDA IQ and was reading a review and it says you can't sync over wifi is this correct? Is there anyway of changing this or any software that will do this for you?
Guest darrensmith016 Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 I have heard this as well, but sure it is possible because you can sync over bluetooth Just Ordered my XDA IQ and was reading a review and it says you can't sync over wifi is this correct? Is there anyway of changing this or any software that will do this for you?
Guest Looby Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 According to Microsoft they have not enabled activesync via Wi-Fi due to possible security issues.
Guest bbrockie Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Hi there Unfortunaly WiFi synchronization is not possible with WM5. Its gone in ActiveSync v4.0 and upwards. If you're interested you can read the ActiveSync 4.0: No More WiFi Sync, Syncing WM5 over WIFI?, So near yet so far... and WiFi Debugging articles. You can however still use Bluetooth to synchronize <_<
Guest jimbouk Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 You can activesync over wifi with an exchange server - and I read somewhere there is a workaround to sync over wifi with outlook - but its complicated and not advised unless you are proficient and confident with network settings etc.
Guest jasonn Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 (edited) I have actually managed to get my M600 to sync to an exchange server using wifi but it only does this when you sync manually. The scheduled syncs always make a gprs connection even though the device has an active wifi connection. If I move the phone to an area with no network coverage (but still with an active wifi connection) it refuses to sync off the schedule saying there is no cellular connection available. Is there a way to make the scheduled sync use the wifi connection when present rather than using gprs?? Edited November 3, 2006 by jasonn
