Vario / Vario II + T-Mobile Web n Walk

Hi

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this sort of question, but I would like some advice.

I've just cancelled my Orange contract that I took out when they were pushing their 3G phones. mainly because I was looking for somthing new and T-Mobiles web n walk looked attractive.

Anyway, so thats a bit of background. I found that I didn't really use the phone for a lot of web browsing, as 3G coverage was poor, and only 3G traffic was free for the first 3 months.

However, the thought of proper internet access on the move is somthing which interests me.

So anyway, I've been looking at the T-Moblie deals, and reading reviews and forums(this one included) and I don't know what to go for now.

At the moment I've narrowed down what I think I want to either the Vario or Vario II on Flext 25 with Web n Walk(

Thanks alot for answering all my questions.

As you have been so helpful, I thought I'd ask a few more if you don't mind.

Does the Vario II have a 400mhz processor or 300mhz? I keep reading conflicting views on this. Is this faster than say a 400mhz proccessor on a iPAQ 2210(an XScale proccessor I believe). Is the difference in speed that noticable between the Vario I and II?

Is the camera on the Vario II any good? I'm used to using my 1.3 mega pixel camera on my s750, which I think gives an excellent picture for a mobile phone. Is the flash any good? Again I find the flash very good on my current phone.

Are there any other advantages to the Vario II over the Vario?

Is the 3G still worth it without this HSDPA? I get the feeling I wont be able to get T-mobile to add this for me, and also don't think I will be covered in my area anyway.

I still thinking of going for the Flext 20 + web n walk deal. Thanks for clearing up the different plans. The T-mobile website is still very unclear on this. I only found the other web n walk plans, plus the usage limits, by first selecting a standard flext plan and having the option to add these later. As you say, this means you end up paying more for the phone though. There is still no mention of a usage limit if you just select the flext +web n walk plan, although I'm sure there probably is.

So, the question still is, for anyone who wants to give their opinion. For someone who wants to broswe the web occasionaly, and maybe download games/apps:-

Is it worth getting a Vario II on the Web n Walk standard plan?

Or do I save

It's 400Mhz - haven't compared it with other phones.

The Camera's not too awful... It's 2mp but not the very best. The flash is pretty poor. Have a browse in the Hermes section of the Pocket PC bit of the forum (it's a Pocket PC not a Smartphone) and you'll find an example thread.

Better camera, faster, higher resale value, looks nicer!

max 384kps compared to 28kps - defintely, but most people who've asked for HDASP have had it added.

I've taken the plunge now! Didn't bother going to look at phones in end. Got the Vario II + Web n Walk. Can't wait for it to arrive.

One more question. Will I get the cool looking red/grey one? Or just the normal grey one?

Shop deals are pretty similar and you don't have p&p so take that into account

I too am looking for this phone.

However, I can't find it on the t-mobile website.

Can anyone post a link or recommend a safe and cheap website?

Thanks!

Just got mine today. They were out of stock at T-Mobile.

Looks pretty good. Few questions for anyone here.

Why is the led on the right hand side at the top flashing every second or so?

Are there better screen protectors than the one provided? I put it on, but it makes the screen look really ... rubbish! Plus I couldn't get it one without leaving small air bubbles, maybe thats me!

Do I need to do anything to enable 3G? I seem to keep connecting with GPRS, although t-mobile say there is 3G coverage in my area.

What version of Opera will work on this phone? I tried downloading one version and it just said it can't install.

Thanks again.

From memory the LED just shows a signal.

3g should show automatically.

Try Martin Fields screen protectors.

Operaa mini works but if you don't want the irritating confirmation messages you need to apply a fix. Haven't tried Opera mobile but it should work. Also look at PIEplus v2.2 to improve PIE (2.1 gave me problems but 2.2 works well).
