It would appear that Vodafone have pulled a fast one for users of the v1240 wanting to use Activesync to send e-mail through recieved on an exchange server to their phone instantaneously.

From what I can gather, Windows Mobile 5 phones running active sync should have available an otion to "forward e-mails when they arrive" under the schedule setting menu (ie. the intervals the phone checks for new e-mails). This option has been removed form the v1240 version of activesync.

Instead, you must set the phone to sync at a specified time limit as opposed to mail just arriving as it appears on the exchange server. Sure you can set the sync to as little as every 5 mins but this eats alot of data over a 24 hr period.

Is there a way to install a version of active sync on the phone which has not had this option removed?

Any suggestions (or corrections) welcome.

Hey there folks, I am posting this with my tail between my legs.......

The problem I was having is related to my business exchange server not being set up for Always-up-to-date and not at all anything to do with vodafone - my apologies to them.
