Guest veef13 Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 (edited) Hi all.. On all my previous HTC devices I have sucessfully debranded the case using the sugar cube trick to great sucess and was wondering if anyone has tried it on a v1240/sp5/c600? Only asking this as the plastic where the vodafone logos are seems quite soft and I don't want to mess it all up... Any sucess/failure stories much appreciated... Cheers all Paul Edited October 16, 2006 by veef13
Guest bowdowntozoltan Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 just curious what is the sugar cube trick?
Guest veef13 Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 just curious what is the sugar cube trick? hi, its a simple trick of using a sugar cube to gently rub off operator logos etc from phone housing. The nature of sugar cubes and its abrasive qualities lets you use moderate pressure to remove the logos, but not damage the case or paint... thing is the plastic on my v1240,a nd i'm sure c600/sp5s etc seems to be soft, and even a sugar cube may damage the case... but, when it works, makes the phones look much cleaner. hope this is of help Paul
Guest bowdowntozoltan Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 well it depends i guess, how plasticy is it? I dont see why it wouldnt work
Guest veef13 Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 well it depends i guess, how plasticy is it? I dont see why it wouldnt work agree, it should be fine as e200/c500/c550/m500 have been fine... but this plastic is different... just don't wan't to risk borking a 3 day old handset...
Guest mini_man Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 nope the c550 didnt work at all, it completely ruined the casing.
Guest veef13 Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 nope the c550 didnt work at all, it completely ruined the casing. soz to correct you mini_man but it worked on the 2nd c550 i had, very gentle back and forth movements and the orange logos came off and left nowt behind... never tried it on the 1st one tho... maybe diff materials used over the year between the two handsets I had? so no one has tried it on a tornado I take it?
Guest mini_man Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Oops! didnt read your post properly! Yup it works fine on my C600 and my mate also did it on his SP5 I recall. Hope it all goes well! Sam

Done a c500, c550 and c600 with no problems. Not a chance of getting that qtek/imate/vodaphone/o2 logo off your phone though  you'll just scratch the plastic and it'll look like crap :( Phil

Guest The Doctor Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 thanks Phil, exactly the input I needed, didn't wanna mess up the case... cheers no problem  its because the C500 and the C600 had aluminium fascias so you could get it off easily without worrying about the case. With the c550 you could _just_ about get it off as the orange logo was printed on. On the SP5/v1240/8310/XDA IQ the logo isn't printed. its actually part of the fascia so there is no hope of getting it off :( and if you do try you'll just scratch it as its plastic :) Phil

Luckily i've had donor phones that i can take the parts out of but im not so sure about buying the parts individually. Try contacting Fluffcat1 to see if he has any keypad cicuit boards you have have off him. As for the facsia's/housing, its fluffcat1 again. he has around 4 on ebay at the moment for
