Can anybody out there that uses a laptop with Intels GMA 950 graphics chips tell me if they play 3d games well?

I'm after a laptop that I can use for pleasure (ie. games, not neccessarilly brand new games) as well as serious? stuff.

I like the look of the Macbook, does it run windows well? (need windows for the games).

Any comments would be helpful.

thanks

The Intel graphics, in a word, suck. Don't even bother.

You need a ATI Radeon or NVidia GeForce graphics cards (bear in mind they do produce other model ranges, these are just as useless as the intel chipset).

The MacBook pro has an ATI x1600 which is one of the nicer ones. Theres a few nippier GeForces out there but the laptops using them tend to be far bulkier and have poorer battery performance.

In all honesty I would grade the graphics upon a game like Battlefield 2. If the GFX card can run that it will run *most* current games.

If you're not going to be playing brand new games the non-discreet graphics option would be fine. Yes its not as good as the stuff you'll find in laptops costing 4 grand, but if you want to play an occasional game of ut2004 or something it'll do. Unless of course you have 4 grand laying around you don't need for something else.
