Guest muff Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) Hi all Here's the problem - With headphones in, no problems, full sound. When headphones not plugged in - no sound except ringtone. Device is in normal mode, with volume up in profile and in normal volume control If I play a ringtone in the Settings menu, sound works just fine. Playing an mp3 or wav in Media Player - no sound. If I leave the mp3 playing in media player, then test the ringtone, no only does the ringtone play, but I can also hear the mp3 until the ringtone ends, then no more sound. So it's as if the phone is in some strange mute mode until the ringtone kicks in Any ideas ? Already tried a hard reset with no joy (obviously) Edited October 18, 2006 by muff
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006  That's weird! Very surprised a hard reset hasn't fixed it... i'm trying to remember if the phone rings externally when in headset mode, I assume it does... in which case, is it 'stuck' in headset mode hardware wise? P
Guest muff Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 ok folks, it turns out it was a variation on the headset bug I'd obviously been too delicate with my prodding in the headphone socket on previous attempts
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 :( You delicate wee thing you  P
Guest muff Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 You delicate wee thing you  the irony wasn't lost on me :(
Guest mini_man Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 I had that variation with my C500 as well. Normal profile but still as if it were in headset mode. Then the headphone socket fell off when I was opening it up so it got stuck in that mode for a while! But luckily the doctor soldered it back on and the phone switched back into normal normal mode. Annoying bug that in wm smartphones. Does this actually occur in PPCs? Sam
Guest The Doctor Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 But luckily the doctor soldered it back on and the phone switched back into normal normal mode. With 4% silver solder no less! I wouldve suggested wiggling a paperclip around inside it and seeing if that made a difference :( Phil
Guest mitch1974 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I solved the problem by deleting the HEADSET profile from the registry, but this probably wouldn't work for people who use the handsfree kit though. (I don't care because the lead on my handsfree headphones snapped, and now I just use stereo headphones with an adapter)
