Customising - Wallpapers, Dialler, Home Screen

Hi,

On my second day of having the phone (Vodafone 1605 version) and so far so good! Now I've had the chance to play I have a couple of questions to which am hoping someone can point me in the right direction...

Wallpaper

I want to create my own. Do I need to create 2 versions (1for portrait and 1 for landscape?), if so do they need to be named in a particular way and what directory/folder should they go in? What format should the wallpaper be in (JPG, BMP...)? If it's a single file does WM5 simple trim it to size or stretch it?

Dialler

The Vodafone 1605 has a customer dialler that doesn't play nicely with themes (bless them), any ideas how to remove? I could do a hard reset but want to avoid doing something so drastic at this stage. Can I do this via the registry?

Home Screen

I've seen some cool looking home screens with large icons, any idea how this is achieved?

For creating themes have a browse for themegence - Mandt might be able to give you advice - he's produced some great ones in the download section.

There are some great dialer skins around - I think the member is swampie who has produced a range.

To get icons on the today screen you'll need a plugin - I use SBSH'S iLauncher but others use Wisbar etc.

Ok so I had to post as I was mentioned!!

Download ThemeGenCE from >HERE<

Compared to thememaker Mcdeb, which is what I've used in the past, it's not the most intuitive program but you get loads more control over the various parts of the theme. Just download it, have a play and see what you come up with! (and post any good ones in the DL section :rolleyes:

For the background image you can use bmp or jpg, and the finished .tsk will normally use different parts of the same image for portrait and landscape modes. I say normally as this program does seem support different images for port and land, I'm still experimenting with it though but this week I hope to finish some cool 'orientation aware' themes.

For dialler skins have a look at zombienexus' page >HERE< they have to be the best I've seen and I have loads of them saved on my memory card.

TIP: save them on your card and set the CABs to read only, that way whenever you fancy a change of theme you can change your dialler to suit

I'm not really into having icons on the today screen, and prefer a clean look (just look at my theme screenshots in the DL section) but if you must fill your screen with cack :( take a look at cLaunch >HERE<, freeware and highly customisable, the sreenshots on the webpage will give you some idea of what you can do with it.
