Well i did have a feeling about this a few years back when i synced a phone with my laptop, and what i found out is that all the users appointments, bithdays [wifes, parents, mates] all in my outlook. how did this happen? the phone was hard resetted when i got it..

There have been a number of reports of that sort of thing over here (UK) too.

I recall hearing of Orange shipping out Care replacements with the last users data still visible - they didn't even reset them, let alone "wipe" them.

So what's the best policy? - I've got to do a bunch of old WM handsets very soon.

I was thinking a ROM update should wipe them - AFAIK that overwrites the entire memory in the device (SD cards not included of course).
