Guest spacerace Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I have a question for someone using thier XBox 360 as a Media Center Extender... I want to know if it can play video content that requires a codec that is not native to MCE. i.e. I have some video podcasts that I download to my MCE to watch. They wouldn't play natively so I installed a codec pack which got them playing fine on the MCE box. I am considering getting an XBox and want to use it as an extender to watch MCE content in another room. I don't know if it will be able to play all content however since it doesn't have the codec pack installed ? Has anyone had any experience of this ? Could someone with this setup try it out ?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 That won't work, or at least I couldn't get it to - you can only 'extend' stuff in the regular codecs  P
Guest spacerace Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 yeah that's what I was afraid of, bugger. thanks.
Guest rockykabir Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 You can use transcode360 to stream divx videos through your 360 http://www.runtime360.com/  major prob though....you need windows media center on your PC :(
Guest goochy1 Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 How do you connect your Xbox 360 to your Windows Media Centre and what advantages does it give? Cheers Goochy1
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 I now use TVersity to stream content such as DivX to my 360.... works great! ;) P
