Handango close OMNISOFT account

I always feel slightly queasy when I agree with MSMoblies, but this caught my eye and, for me, was a step too far by Handango:

In 2005, I won a raffle that Handango had, which resulted in me receiving $5,000.00 in ad allowance to use on advertising my products on their site and in their newsletters.

...

I recently developed a new version for one of my products (alerts!), and I wanted to use part of my ad allowance to promote it. But, when I tried to use/confirm my ad balance ... Handango wasn't aware of my ad allowance and suddenly put a whole bunch of restrictions on it ...

...

We then spent almost a month ... creating the insertion order (ad schedule) ...

...

On the day that the first ad was to appear, it didn't. And when I inquired why, they essentially replied that they had closed my account and will no longer sell my apps

There are several other stores now, not least of which is FairDeal, so I for one will not be buying from Handango until this situation is reversed. I've spent around $1300 (pre-tax) with them in the last couple of years.

If you care about software developers, which you should if you ever have or plan to use commercial software on your device, then please use the form HERE (right at the bottom of the page) to let Handango know what you think.

That's total garbage - I can't believe Handango would do something like that. I may not have spent as much as you have, but I'll stick join you on that no-purchase policy. I've posted a couple of threads elsewhere - hopefully, we can get more people to be aware of stuff like that.

Say, maybe we can get Paul to post something on the front page too!

Having read through the email history I must admit I'm shocked. Yes John was slightly demanding at times (not getting into whether he had right to be or not) but that doesn't seem a well thought out response at all!

The negative publicity this will get Handango will lose them far more then they will make up by reselling his ad spots. And that's disregarding the actual sales from his products (which I must admit I've never used but hear enough about to hold him in regard as an accomplished developer).

I hope a resolution is arrived at swiftly that ensures satisfaction for both parties, and that no one at Handango takes it personally (although I can't help thinking they already did).

Glad to see you at least got something out of it.

And hey, I got a free copy of a nice bit of PPC software, so that's cool too. Even better was that I wasn't even expecting it!

Methinks Handango made a mistake by thinking they could save themselves some money by doing you wrong. Glad they partially made up for the mistake.
