Guest M219569 Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 When I dock my SPV at the beginning of the working day I am pleased to say it always does what it says on the tin. Most (but not all) subsequent dockings as I go to meetings and generally wile away the day result in activesync hanging. The only cure is to use the task manager to end the WCESMgr.exe process on Windows 2K Professional and relaunch activesync. I can't work out if it is my laptop or the phone that is causing it to hang. It ALWAYS fails after the icon turns green and it's status is 'connected' but before it starts to sync data with outlook. has anyone else come across this ? Kev.
Guest fixit Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Haven't seen it myself on either of the Win2K desktops that I sync my phone with - but we all know how strange and non-standard laptops can be. I've noticed a couple of activesync problems in the bugtrack forum, including one issue whereby you get problems if you physically plug the device in and install the driver before activesync has been installed. I'd try re-installing activesync and seeing if your hassles go away - maybe uninstall it from control panel, run regclean.exe a few times and then put it back on from the CD.
Guest Stealthy Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Orange have employed level 3 engineers to deal with Outlook, Activesync and smartphone issues. They seem to be based in Southampton. At least that is what the guy told me when I spoke with him two weeks ago. I was passed through to him by data support on 156. Quite a helpful guy and quite knowledgeable on outlook and its known issues. Try speaking to them. I am sure the problem with your activesync hanging is down to background apps running. Have you any other sync software on there or antivirus. These usually are the culprits.
Guest sipper Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 This M$ Activesync troubleshooter might be of help (it’s aimed at Pocket PC users but should apply to SPV users as well): http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...ync/default.asp Sipper
