Guest Dr Who Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Has anyone used either of these softwares on a Hermes? Or anyone any suggestions for similar functioning freeware?
Guest Matt Kirby Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I tried WiFiFoFum and didn't find it that usefull for connecting to networks (only seemed to be useful for finding out info about networks). I currently use Hitchhiker which does work well, except it does crash every now and then. If you do use it, install to the device rather than the storage card as it seems to behave better that way.

Hi there, I installed hitchhiker onto my M3100 the other day - it does look like a good bit of kit but I am yet to really use it as it crashes ALL the time  it seems to crash when it plays the sound file when it connect to a connection. Any idea's why ? would really love to get this to work properly. Cheers in advance for any help Peter
Guest Dr Who Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Haven't tried it properly yet but just running in the background it hasn't spawned any crashes on my Vario II yet. Might try it this weekend.

I did a bit of digging and found a forum post somewhere that said to get Hitchhiker to work, you had to log in to Pocket MSN at least once (I guess it makes some registry settings somewhere). Tried this and lo and behold, Hitchhiker worked perfectly after that. The only problem with this advice is that the M3100 doesn't have Pocket MSN. :(
Guest thecresta Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 See this thread for a workaround. Just install Messenger 2002 then 2003, then log on. Hitchhiker used to crash on every connection, but it works fine now! :)
Guest mini_man Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Only have a vario, but I use hitchiker. I tried wififofum but didnt find it very useful. Hitchiker doesnt crash on me works very well.

Hitchiker doesnt crash on me works very well. Doesn't seem to crash my Vario II but doesn't seem to do what I was after. I was ideally after a packet sniffer/extractor but this doesn't seem to do that.
