Guest mrD Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) Hi Gang, Apologies in advance for any mistakes that I make. This is my first post on the forum. I would really appreciate it if someone coluld help with the following. My MDA Vario 2 does not vibrate. I have checked the forum for solutions and I can confirm: - The phone is set to ring and vibrate. - In Sounds and Notifications: Incoming call is set to ring and vibrate. - I have not installed the led disabling software. - I have done a soft reset. And yet it will not vibrate in silent mode or ringing mode. This is a feature that is very important to me as I need to keep my phone on silent at work. Any advice or help in this matter will be much appreciated. Many thanks, mrD. Edited October 31, 2006 by mrD
Guest Pondrew Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Does vibrate ever work on your device? A test to do would be to touch the speaker symbol in the top bar of the today screen and select vibrate... Moved to Pocket PC Help & Advice as your Vario II is not a Smartphone but a Pocket PC Phone

Moved to Pocket PC Help & Advice as your Vario II is not a Smartphone but a Pocket PC Phone Hi there, Firstly thanks for moving into the right area of the forum - i was wondering why no one had replied to my post ;o) Now this is strange. When I click on the speaker and select vibrate the phone does not vibrate - however when I select vibrate from the comm manager from ringer to vibrate then it will vibrate once. If from comm manager I select it back to ringer and then back to vibrate, then it will not vibrate a second time. Im not sure whats going on....
Guest Pondrew Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Sorry, I should have said that the act of choosing vibrate from the top bar in the Today screen won't actually make the device vibrate there and then, it simply selects Vibrate only mode. I thought it best to work out first if vibrate EVER works on your Vario II... So have you tried calling yourself while Vibrate mode is selected?

I thought it best to work out first if vibrate EVER works on your Vario II... So have you tried calling yourself while Vibrate mode is selected? Hi again. I have - I set into vibrate mode and called myself from my work phone and also from another mobile. All I get is the number coming up - its like the phone is set in mute mode as opposed to vibrate. Some people on other forums have mentioned that it may have something to do with the registry setting as the profiles are hard coded into the phone but they were refering to the MDA Vario at that point as opposed to the MDA Vario 2 - but Im not even sure how I would check my registry or what I would need to check for. Any other ideas why it may not be working. Thanks,
Guest richard_d Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Next suggestion would be to make sure you've copied off everything you need, then try a hard reset.

Many thanks,

Guest Pondrew Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Don't like the sound of that! If vibrate is still not working having succesfully hard reset then it's probably a faulty handset. Can you contact T-Mobile for an exchange?

Guest mrD Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I think thats what I will have to do..... ill let you know how I get on. Cheers, Hi Guys, Just to let you know that I called T-Mobile and informed them that the vibrate function was not working. I told them that I had done a hard reset (their Tech Support will want to go through a number of things to get it working and if they can't the last thing they will suggest is to do a hard reset). Anyway they have sent out another one as I was within my 28 day exchange period - and I am happy to say that it is vibrating (phew!). So it looks like that it was a hardware fault. Many thanks for all you help and advice. mrD. ps - Not sure how you close a thread off, so Mods if you get chance then can you please do this one. Thanks.
