Guest stevejarvis Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Has anyone successfully used an M3100 on a secure wifi network using WEP encryption? The device seems to lose the key about 50% of the times that the connection is closed.

I find the best way is to type the key into notepad first then cut and paste them in - also make sure the default key on the router/ WI-FI AP is number 1 for ease of use - I could not get it to work on default key 3 which my home was set up as - also had the same problem on my Sony PSP as well - so when I set it to key 1 they both worked. You just have to keep trying I found - but it does work good luck Peter
Guest randomelements Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Not had any problem with mine at home - once the key is in it just stays. I've also got my default on 1.
Guest jimbouk Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 I regularly use mine on three different WEP Wifi networks and all work fine. The only thing I find that I have to do is to clear out a lot of random SSID's when I have been using public ones...for example, I used the Orange Partnercamp one last week and one of the three available at the airport in Cadiz and when I got home I found that my device took a bit longer to connect to home and work access points (ie took about 30 seconds instead of 10)...but once I went through the SSID's saved by the device and deleted all the ones I am unlikely to use again, everything sped back up again.

I have seen the speed issue on mine too if I use hotspots and other "free" connections my AP list gets a bit long and it does take a while to get to my home AP or Work AP - not sure if there is a way of prioritising this list at all so that you can tell the unit to try home AP fist then work then the rest. Would be nice if you can
Guest jimbouk Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 I did have a look...but couldnt find a way - so simply go through the SSID's stored once every couple of weeks and remove the ones I wont be using again anytime soon.
