Does the Excalibur have bluetooth dialup networking profile?

I have a us Tmobile dash, and bluetooth dialup networking profile (DUN) is missing. In its place is bluetooth PAN.

Question, did Tmobile (US) remove DUN profile, or was it never there? There seems to be some discussion on wether M$ removed it as part of AKU3.

I figured I would have a better chance asking here, as most of you will have the s620. Does your rom have it?

This is a needed profile to tether on a mac.

Any answer would be much appreciated.

I have read differing answers on what exactly the profiles are.

The next question that has come up. So far what I have heard that the AKU3 WM5 update dumps BT DUN for BT PAN.

I am still waiting for confirmation on this. If this is the case, :rolleyes: to M$

The AKU3 WM5 release does NOT have DUN support. They opted to go with PAN instead.

Question though, would it have been so difficult to have both, instead of replacing it?

I see this a problem going forward, a lot of BT adapters do not support BT PAN.

BT PAN works well with my S620. Using XP PRO w/ MS bluetooth stack.

Only problem I have is that it uses EDGE even if a Wifi connection is available.

how did you setup your PAN? I have connected both laptop and Dash via bluetooth, but not sure what to do afterward.. Do I need to setup some kind of proxy so I can browe the internet with my laptop?

I have experience setup DUN on my SDA, but not sure what to do with Dash's PAN..

BT PAN is Personal Area Network.

Same as DUN, but a differenet name!

The connection from the PC ( XP PRO using MS Bluetooth stack ) side was always failing even after pairing the phone to the PC. It only worked after I deleted the pairing from the phone and the PC and reestablished using the "Share Internet" utility in START / EXPERT folder.

In the Share Internet app do the following:

-Select "Bluetooth PAN" for the PC Connection

-Select "your GPRS defined setting" for Netword Connection.

-Selecting "Connect" will request the Bluetooth radio be turned on and visible ( if not in that state )

- At this point launch a PAN connection (Network Places/Properties) of the PC side and select "Add" to pair with the phone.

- Following the passkey exchange the devices will connect.

- You can disconnect from either device.

found my problem! the tcp/ip protocol wasn't enable in my bluetooth connection. after enabled it, it all works fine now! Thanks!
